Surf Baby Favorites!

Hello lovlies! It's been a while since I did a blog post, I've been focusing more on my videos. But today I wanted to let you all know what my FAVORITES were from the MAC Surf Baby Collection.

I've actually fallen in love with this collection. I've found that the past year or two I've been quite dissapointed in the Mac's collections. But I couldn't believe how many things I liked!

So my favorites were:

Skin Sheen Bronzer Stick
Cheek Powder
Crush Metallic Pigments (Summer Stash and Surf The Ocean)
Surf USA Eyeshadow

So I did buy more things from the collection but let me tell you why I LOVE these products so much.

The Skin Sheen Bronzer Sticks should freaking be permanent! They're simply amazing, everyone's comparing them to the Nars multiples, other than the shape and the fact that they're a cream product, they don't even compare. I Purchased mine in the color Billionaire Bronze, and it's simply divine. It's a true tan color, not orange, not too red, just a warm tan, a real brown. I apply it by swiping my 109 brush over the top of the cream stick (you barely need any!) and buffing it on to my face after foundation but post powder. The pigmentation is to die for, the staying power is insane, and omg...it looks beautiful. I have oily skin and it doesn't break down, it's beautiful. I put a dab on my 9 year old sister the other day and everyone thought she had been playing out in the sun, not wearing make up. They're fabulous!

The Cheek Powder in My Paradise, is to die for I must say. I knew this would sell quick but I planned on not purchasing it. I saw swatches on temptalia's website and just wasn't drawn in at all. I looked very gimmicky. However, I went to Nordstrom to pre-sale the collection and as I was leaving the sales associate insisted I check it out, and it was amazing. So I bought it. But...when I tried it, I died. For woman of color this blush is a godsend!! It's so pigmented! You need one swipe and you have very trendy orange coral cheeks. Everyone's sad about the impermanence of the gold overspray but...I actually don't care for it, it's gets in the way of the beautiful orange color!! Now...I know this sold out in a day, but if you can find it online, I suggest getting it. I saw it being sold for $40 on Bonanzaa. And that's not bad at all considering it has more product than a MSF.

The Crushed Metallic Pigments are a pain in the butt to work with!! Horrible fallout, super messy, chunky and the like...BUT...when you get them to work and your patient with them, they are freaking gorgeous! I seriously can't get enough these guys. Super pigmented with a wet like finish. Gorgeous, not much to say. Apply BEFORE foundation, I promise. You can expect a tutorial using these!

Surf USA Eyeshadow is an amazing teal blue color. It's a frost finish but applies like a satin, super pigmented gorgeous finish and even retains it's color when blending, I hate when colors turn hideous suggestions of what they were when you blend them out, like MAC's Carbon. Ew. Anyway love love love.

I decided against doing swatches because I figured...everyone's done that but I will be using them in future tutorials so stay soon and SUBSCRIBE. XOXO

Envy Me - Smokey Green Tutorial

Hey so this is my take on a soft olive green smokey eye. I usually wear this for daytime because of the warm golden tones and soft olive wash of color. The darker color that is used in the video is not as harsh as a black which is another reason why this is very wearable.

Taking this look to nighttime is easy. Just deepen the crease color, apply some false lashes, and amp up the liner a bit. Also a brow highlight might be nice as well :)

Hope you enjoy! Have any questions, let me know! Don't forget to subscribe :) Thanks!

Mac Skin Base Visage Primer Review

So let me be the first to say I HATE primers. They always make either more greasy, or too matte, or they clog my pores and break me out! Well...I've met my match! I'm in love with this primer. I can't say HG yet until I repurchase...but for now I love it!

I got it in a kit that a purchased from mac. When I pumped it out on my hand it kind of felt greasy, so I set it aside for about a month. One day on a whim I figured I'd just try it, and from then it was love.

It pumps out white and feels kinda greasy but goes on matte, however it's not a mattifying primer. Of course my face felt smooth like it does with all primers but It made my makeup last ALL day with such a natural finish! I couldn't believe it. Now when I'm wearing liquid foundation it's an absolute must!
I have oily/combination skin that's acne prone so I thought for sure that this would break me out or go greasy like I did with Smashbox Photofinish, but neither occurred. I've been using the product for about a month now and I adore it! You get an ounce for $26.00...I don't love the price but not as bad as Smashbox.

BOTTOM LINE: I LOVE this primer and recommenced it to people of ALL skin types but especially those with oily skin looking to extend the longevity of their liquid foundations. It's not mattifying, but it does seem to keep some oil at bay which I do notice and appreciate. I've read people say there's glitter in the product...no there's not. I've NEVER seen a glimpse of glimmer/shimmer on my face after using this prodcut, like NOTHING.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

For the face?
Mac Skin Base Visage is a primer I’m testing out now and so far…loving it.

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Neither, Gel. I LOVE Lancome’s liquid liners. HOLYGRAIL! But I can’t bring myself to pay for them haha.

Sometimes when I tight line…

Lancome.

Like I said before, a form of art, an outlet for self expression, not a necessity.

Revlon Colorstay Review (Oily/Normal Formula)

So I tried this foundation for the first time about 3 days ago and I've worn it everyday since so I could have a good review about it.

This is the very first drugstore foundation that I've tried. I've always felt it was worth it to splurge on foundations so I never ventured to the drugstore for that product in particular. However, after hearing rave reviews about this particular foundation I got curious and decided I had to try it.

It cost me $13.00 at Walgreens and I purchased the Oily/Normal formula because that fits my skin type best. I'm in the color 370 Toast (I found my color by looking on the foundation matrix http://www.temptalia.com/foundation-matrix).

I found that the I get best application when applying with a damp sponge. It's full coverage and sets pretty matte. I still set the foundation with Mac's Prep+Prime Translucent Finishing Powder because it drives home the flawless finish of this foundation. It really does a great job of covering imperfections and doesn't look cakey. And it lasts UNTIL you wash it off!! I took a nap with it on and had it on for 13 hours one day. This stuff means business.

As for the cons: It did oxidize on me slightly which I didn't appreciate but I powdered a bit and it seemed to help the problem. It is very thick and heavy and has a VERY tacky feel when applied. It also has an odd...paint smell. It doesn't have a pump, it pours out VERY easily.

BOTTOM LINE: This is perfect for evening makeup, you won't have to worry about sweating, fading, maybe oxidizing...but it's not to noticeable. It covers so many imperfections seeing as it's full coverage. If you don't mind the heavy feel and initial tackiness when applied then I feel like this is a great foundation.

The reason why I'm not in love with this foundation is because I've found many foundations that give me a flawless full coverage finish without the heaviness that this foundation has.

I recommend this for oily girls like me, you love the shine control! You'll love the coverage and you'll love not having to worry about your foundation slipping, fading, or going patchy! So check it out, it's a cheaper alternative also!

I will continue to wear this foundation on evenings out when I don't want to worry about my foundation and I want it to be flawless!!
